Upcoming Student Exhibitions
Sophomore Spanish
The sophomores are gearing up for their first Spanish exposición - "Born NOT in the USA" on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. They have delved into another culture and worked diligently to master grammar and vocabulary to write side-by-side children's books. The first details a day in their lives in Durango, the second, a day in their hypothetical lives in Chile/Guatemala/Bolivia. The exhibition will take the form of a reading partnership with Del Alma, agroup of minority students in an after school group at local elementary schools. Check out http://www.delalma.net/alma.aspx if you want to learn more about Del Alma.
While this exhibition is not an opportunity for you to see the Spanish students' work first-hand (we'll be sure to get pictures!), if you are the parent/sibling/friend of a sophomore, please help him/her be successful by having him/her practice reading to you EN ESPAÑOL! By the end of next week, you should also be able to listen to a sound file of each student reading his/her stories on his/her DP.
Junior Humanities
Jessica McCallum’s 11th grade Humanities classes will be exhibiting their Narrative History projects at the Durango Discovery Museum on December 7 from 5:30-7pm. The students have researched a specific moment, person, or event from American History and recreated that history in a narrative form of their choosing. Come experience their creative retelling of America’s stories.
