Summer Programming Opportunities at AHS
Just because the calendar says June, it does not mean the action quiets here on campus. Animas High School is pleased to offer two summer sessions this year for student enrichment and multiple opportunities for credit remediation.
Enrichment Programs- aka “Math Jam and Spanish Jam”
At AHS, we call our summer enrichment programs “Jams” This will be the second year that AHS will sponsor both Spanish and Math Jams. Jams take place Mon. through Friday from 8 AM to Noon. Students looking to get a leg up on their math and language skills will find incredible valuable in these opportunities. Your teacher will utilize experiential education and Project Based learning strategies as students are exposed to new content and get a head start on the application of new skills. Incoming AHS students are welcome and encouraged to join us! Please note, our summer Jams cannot be used for credit remediation or core class requirements but can be recorded as additional credit courses on a student’s transcript.
Cost- $250.00 Minimum of 6 students/ Maximum of 12 students per session/per Jam
Summer School
We understand that a student may experience the need at some point to make up a class and missed credits. This summer, AHS is happy to offer credit remediation/class make-up opportunities in Math, Science, Humanities and Spanish. Summer school is facilitated via online programming but must be completed here at school. AHS provides the computer, programming and faculty support for students to remediate one semester per summer school session. Remember, students do not receive credits for any semester they fail so it’s important to know where your student is at. Our teachers, advisors and administration are always available to review your student’s transcript and discuss plans for remediating past performances. Although we expect all of our students to complete their classes and earn credit during the school year, we are excited to offer yet another layer of support to those who may have hit a bump in their high school journey. Each summer school session that is completed generates a full semester’s credit, is recorded on a student’s transcript and counts towards a student’s overall number of credits required to graduate AHS.

Please Note that AHS Summer Programs are intended for currently enrolled/ incoming AHS students only! Each session generates .5 credits (one semester/half a year’s credit)
