Greetings from Animas High School,
I want to thank all the students and parents who participated in Monday’s All-School Improvement Day. The hard work and commitment of our students and parent volunteers has resulted in a building that is clean, ready for our summer remodel and organized for our school’s reopening in August. It’s so great to see our community giving so beautifully to each other and to our school when it’s tempting to take shortcuts so close to the finish line. Thanks for all you’ve done and continue to do for AHS!

AHS Teacher Named to STAR Council
Speaking of Awards, Congrats to Lori Fisher on being selected to serve on the inaugural STAR Teacher Council.
These STAR Teacher Council inductees were nominated by their school leader, and selected by the Colorado League of Charter Schools' nominating committee. There were over 30 well-deserving nominees, making the selection process challenging. However, we are confident that the teachers that were selected will help the STAR Teacher Council meet its goals of elevating best practice in education in the state, and informing important decisions about the work of the Colorado League of Charter Schools, lawmakers and other education-focused organizations.

AHS Mountain Bike Jerseys
Students are designing their team jerseys for the 2011-12 MTB season. Parents, siblings and community members who have an interest in purchasing a bike jersey should contact Head of School, Michael Ackerman to learn more about sizes and cost.
Sports Swap Storage
The Sports Swap Committee wants to thank all the donors and supporters of gear for their first All Sports Sale. Luckily, they could organize and sort all the gear at Animas this year in unused office space. Next year that space will not be available for these efforts. The team is seeking anyone who has an empty barn, garage or zircon container that could be utilized as donations are already coming in for next year's Sport. If you have any ideas, please call Susan Kroes at 903-3434 or email pac@animashighschool.com.
AHS Weekly Updates Update
Next week marks the final distribution of the AHS Weekly Update for the 2010-11 School Year. Look for additional email communications from the school throughout the summer. As always, please feel free to contact the administration via email throughout the summer: michael@animashighschool.com & jake.lauer@animashighschool.com with any issues, comments, questions or concerns you may have!
