Testing&
Assessment Update
Spring NWEA testing will start for 9th graders on
Monday, April 29th and continue until Wednesday, May 8th. Students only
test for 1-2 hours per day, on 3 different days among their classes.
Since these assessments are designed to show growth from Fall to
Spring, remind your students of their importance, and encourage them to do
their best!
Why are these tests important? In
addition to showing both individual and overall grade level growth at AHS, NWEA
test scores and student growth data is used by our school to pollenate performance
reports and sculpt annual AHS improvement plans. Anima High also utilizes
NWEA test results to adjust and refine our individualized approaches and
instructional methods for each and every AHS student.
Staffing Update
On Friday, April 26 2013, Nick Manning informed
the AHS Head of School of his decision to resign his employment at our school.
Mr. Manning’s resignation was effective immediately and the timing of
this transition is unfortunate.
Please know that Animas High School remains
committed to providing our students the best high school experience possible.
Moving forward, we have repositioned so that our exceptional, veteran faculty
members are now captaining Mr. Manning’s classroom assignments, advisory duties
and faculty responsibilities.
Additionally, Heather Barr has transitioned from
her position as Director of Development for AHS. AHS wishes to thank both
employees for their service to our school this year. Any questions or concerns
regarding these changes to Animas High School personal should be forwarded
directly to the Head of School at michael@animashighschool.com
