Flower Power Fundraiser
Animas High School 9th graders are currently participating in a fundraising project that has them selling all kinds of beautiful flowers and plants to raise money for AHS. The Flower Power fundraiser will continue through this Friday and helps raise funds for Animas High School’s unrestricted (non-grant dollars) budget. The school continues to expend grant funds on valuable resources, technology, tools and equipment that will support our students in their scholastic endeavors. The money raised from the Flower Power fundraiser (just like previous fundraising efforts this year) is used to support AHS’s unrestricted budget- i.e. paying teachers and staff, covering monthly operating costs and funding our facilities remodel for next year. Beautiful things are blooming this spring at AHS and we could not have done it without this community’s generosity! Thank you for supporting Animas High in our Flower Power fundraising efforts!
Info/Enrollment Nights
Enrollment continues to be strong for both 9th and 10th grader at AHS next year! Please pass along the word regarding these upcoming enrollment/info events:
April 14th- Info Night at AHS- 6- 7:30 PM
April 16th- Shadow Day at AHS (reservations required)
April 29th-Info Night at AHS- 6-7:30 PM
Left Turns
I want to remind all the drivers in our community that during the school day we have committed to not taking left turns out of the school’s front parking lot at 3206 North Main Ave. The Colorado Dept of Transportation has appreciated our school’s efforts in enforcing this rule. We have been granted another year at our current location because we have demonstrated the ability to comply with CDOT’s requests. BUT, we must continue to honor this policy during the school day! Those who need to take an immediate left out of campus should make sure they are pulling down behind the school building. This way, you can head out the back alley to 33rd St. giving you the option to make a left at the top of 33rd onto 550! Thank you for your continued compliance with this request!
CO League Petition
A child's teacher is the number one in-school factor of student success. For years, charter schools have been holding teachers and principals accountable for student achievement through effective evaluation processes. And now, a Senate Bill is being introduced that will require traditional public schools to do the same. Please click below to ask your legislators to vote yes on the Educator Effectiveness Bill. We believe this bi-partisan legislation will move Colorado closer to providing an excellent education for every child.www.greatteachersandleaders.org/CLCSThank you for your support of charter schools and quality public school options for Colorado's kids.
State Science Fair
Tucker Leavitt and Sam Kater were awarded Honorable Mention in the Senior Physics category at last week’s Colorado State Science Fair for their work with Electrostatic Power Amplification. We are very proud of these two students and the excellent scientific work they’ve pursued over the course of this experience. Tucker and Sam also received a cash award from the Little Shop of Physics which will help them as they prepare for International Science Fair which is coming up the week of May 10th. Congratulations Tucker and Sam!
