SLCs this Wednesday!

Semester Two Student Led Conferences (SLCs) are this Wednesday, February 27th at Animas High School. Please check with your student to make sure you’ve got their SLC correctly scheduled! A reminder that SLCs are an essential part of the AHS program and are never OPTIONAL.
Metatheatrical Shadow Puppet Performance

Join Jessica McCallum’s 9th grade Humanities students this Friday as they present The Tragedy of Macbeth as performed through the timeless art of shadow puppetry. This exhibition is a culmination of the students’ explorations into the works of William Shakespeare and students have worked incredibly hard to be ready for Friday afternoon’s events. Please join us for showings in the AHS Lodge at 4:30 PM and again at 6 PM.

Supporting Our Culture of Excellence

It’s imperative that within our Culture of Excellence that we sweat the small stuff! To this end, we must hold ourselves accountable and not give in to the temptation of the “Second Semester Slide” This year, parents and students have done a good job committing to the expectations laid out in AHS’s Student Handbook. So that we can ensure a strong finish to our year, please take a moment to reacquaint yourselves with Animas High School’s Attendance and Punctuality Procedures:

Attendance:

1. Pre-excused absence forms are due to Laurel at the front office before any extended pre-planned absences.  Your student can get the form from Laurel, have it signed by their teachers and parent/s and return the form to Laurel.

2.  To excuse your student from school for the day because of sickness or any other reason please let Laurel know first thing in the morning.  You can call the front desk @ 970-247-2474 or email Laurel @ mainoffice@animashighschool.com

3. If your student needs to leave during school hours you may send them with a note to excuse them or call Laurel. They will still need to sign out at the front desk before they leave and sign back in when they return.  If you come and pick your student up before the end of the day they will need to be signed out at the front office. This policy also includes SENIORS and student's 18 or older.  Seniors have the privilege to leave campus "open campus" only during times when they are NOT scheduled in class.

4. If your student has extended periods of illness they will need to talk with their teachers by e-mail or keep current with their DP.  If you need to discuss extended absences or other special arrangements please contact your student's adviser by e-mail.  If your absence merits the administration’s approval, the adviser will facilitate forwarding your request to the AHOS/HOS.

PLEASE HELP US MAINTAIN OUR CULTURE OF EXCELLECE by following these very important procedures!
